Abstract

572,290. Knife &c. holders. VERNONS INDUSTRIES, Ltd., and KENNERSLEY, G. R. April 4, 1944, No. 6216. [Class 146 (iii)] A knife, file, saw or similar blade is mounted in a casing having a slot through which the blade. may be projected by means of a rotary propelling member mounted in the casing and connected to a threaded part of the blade or a member connected thereto. In one form, Fig. 1, the blade 10 guided for movement in a slot 11b in the end of a casing 11, has a cylindrical tang 10a on which is rotatable a tube 14 having a spiral slot 14a in which a spigot 13 in the tang 10a engages. The tube 14 has a projecting portion 14c to which an operating knob 16 is secured. In a second form, Fig. 15, a flat tang 10a has a slotted lug 10e engaging a spiral rod 14 rotatable within the casing 11 and secured to a plug 17 rotatable by an operating plug. In other forms, the tang is cylindrical and provided with a helical slot engaged by an internal projection or threads on a tubular member fixed to the rotatable operating, plug.
