Abstract

PURPOSE: To eliminate the initial malfunctioning in gas detection by means of a compensation resistor indicating positive resistance temperature characteristic at low temperature connected in series to the gas sensitive body.

CONSTITUTION: A compensation resistance element 4 employing α-Fe2O3 or the like indicating the positive resistance temperature characteristic at the temperature lower than the normal working temperature (250W450°C) is connected in series with the gas detector 3 emplaying α-Fe2O3 or the like. When a switch 1 is closed to apply the voltage to heaters 2 and 2' at a level equipvalent to the normal temperature, the detection element 3 and the compensation element 4 indicated changes in the resistance value respectively, and settle for a resistance level equivalent to the normal temperature. The detection of gas by the composite resistance eliminates the cause of the initial malfunctioning.
