PURPOSE: To enable the rate of paint recovery to be increased despite increased speed of a conveyor by providing a drain pan which accept the water contg. the pait dropping from a painted body to the post stage of the rinsing device of an electro- deposition coating device provided with an electro-deposition coating bath tank, rinsing device and a drying oven in this order, and recirculating the drain water to the rinsing device.

CONSTITUTION: The electro-deposition coating device is constituted in order of an electro-depositing coating bath tank 1, three stages of spray rinsing devices 3aW5a, a dipping tank 6a, a drain pan 22 and a drying oven 7. The substrate W having received electro-deposition coating emitted from the tank 6a is shifted from a hanger 9a onto a carriage 25 and is conveyed at a conveyor speed to the oven 7, and during this time the rinsing water contg. the paint drops onto a drain pain 22. Further, in the oven 7, too, the rinsing water drops onto a drain pan 23 until the paint film dries up. Such drain water is gathered in a recovering tank 21, from which it is pumped 24a back into the rinsing tank 5a through a pipe 24, to allow the paint in the water to overflow into the tanks 4a, 3a and the tank 1, whereby said paint is recovered.
