Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent performance lowering for prefetch, by providing the second tag to store a part of the storage addresses of the first tag in the prefetch system where existence of access data is checked in the tag. CONSTITUTION:When the main memory request of prefetch.block fetch is started to send block fetch data from the main memory, this data is set to effective address register 2 to perform the access for data write to the buffer. The first tag 4 is made available, and the address is sent to copy register 14 from actual address register 11 directly to make the second tag 6 available. If match is not obtained when the second tag 6 is accessed, it is decided immediately that the prefetch condition is met; and if match is obtained, the first tag is checked. As a result, the operation load of the first tag 4 is reduced.
