Abstract

PURPOSE:To restore comparessed data without storing it temporarily by generating an output character in a unit processing time without fail while regarding the length of two-character information as a restoration unit. CONSTITUTION:A storage device MM stores compressed data consisting of a series of pieces of compressed unit information, and an address register AR stores address for reading the stored compressed data. In a data register DR, the compressed data as long as read two-character information is stored in a register R, restored data is written. For example, when one piece of character information accompanies control information having restoration unit information shows compression, the control information is stored in the beginning of each processing time and then character information is restored and outputted. When the restored information has the control information following one piece of character information, character information is restored and outputted, character by character, in every unit processing time in response to the control information stored in advance.
