TOILET TISSUE DISPENSER Filed July 13, 1967 INVENTOR Len M. G tram] United States Patent Ofiice 3,475,067 Patented Oct. 28, 1969 3,475,067 TOILET TISSUE DISPENSER Len M. Girard, R0. Box 176, Cochrane, Ontario, Canada Filed July 13, 1967, Ser. No. 653,244 Int. Cl. B65l1 19/02 Cl. 312-39 1 Claim ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention relates to a toilet paper dispenser comprising a casing for attachment to the edge of a toilet bowl, said casing having a lid with a depending wall slidably mounted in a groove formed in the rear wall of the casing, a pair of spaced tubular members mounted on the depending wall of said lid for supporting rolls of toilet paper, the top edge of one side wall of said casing having a groove through which the paper of the top roll is dispensed and a strip of resilient material covering the groove in the side wall to prevent the paper from being drawn backward into the casing.
This invention relates to dispensers and more particularly to a toilet tissue dispenser specifically adapted for a roll of toilet tissue with provision for storing a second roll.
Broadly, the invention comprises a rectangular case formed with a pair of clips for securing the device to a toilet bowl a further clip for holding a magazine or newspaper.
The cover of the device is formed With a finger grip for removing and inserting and a depending rear wall adapted to slide within grooves formed adjacent the rear wall of the casing. A pair of dowel are secured to said rear wall of said lid and rolls of tissue paper are mounted on said dowels, the top roll for dispensing through a slot and the lower roll for storing within said dispenser.
The primary object of the invention is therefore the provision of a toilet tissue dispenser adaptable to be secured to a toilet 'bowl and provided with facilities for storing a spare roll of toilet tissue.
Another important object of the invention is the provision of a slot through which the tissue is dispensed, said slot provided with a strip of flexible resilient material across the entire width of said slot to prevent the paper from being drawn back into the dispenser.
Still another object, is the provision of an extension of the lid of said dispenser over the said slot to provide an edge on which the paper is torn after it is pulled out of the dispenser.
Other apparent objects are the provision of a dispenser as set forth which is strong and durable, efficient and of comparatively low manufacturing cost.
With these and other objects in view that may appear as the description proceeds, it will be seen the invention consist in the novel arrangement of cooperating elements as hereinafter more specifically set forth, claimed and shown in the accompanying drawing forming part of this application and in which:
FIGURE 1 is a fragmental front elevational view of a toilet bowl, in dotted lines, with my invention attached thereon.
FIGURE 2 is a side elevational view of FIGURE 1.
FIGURE 3 is a perspective view of a dispenser constructed in accordance with the present invention.
Referring more in detail to the drawing in which similar reference characters designate corresponding parts throughout the several views, it will be seen the invention comprises a toilet tissue dispenser consisting of a
case5 having two
side walls6, and 6a a
front wall5 and a rear wall 7. A pair of
clips8 secured to the rear wall, serve to fasten the device to the side of a toilet bowl as illustrated in FIGURES 1 and 2 of the drawing. A magazine or newspaper securing clip 9 is mounted on the front wall of the device.
Directly in front of the rear wall 7 is formed a
groove10 within which is disposed a depending wall 11 integrally formed with the
lid12 and on which is secured a pair of
tubular members13. A roll of toilet tissue is mounted on each tubular member. The roll on the lower member is mounted for storage only and is to be used when the top roll is empty.
The roll of the top tubular member is disposed thereon for dispensing purposes.
The roll of tissue paper is mounted as illustrated in FIGURE 2 of the drawing and the leading edge of the paper is drawn through a
slot14 formed at the top edge of the
side wall6a for dispensing. The paper is cut on the edge of the lid which extend beyond the
side wall6a.
To prevent the paper from being drawn back into the dispenser, the invention provides a strip of resilient material 16 which normally closes the
slot14. When the top roll is empty, the lower roll is moved up and another roll is stored on the lower tubular member.
It is believed that the construction and advantages have been fully set forth and that further detailed description is not required.
While the preferred embodiment has been disclosed it is to be understood that minor modifications may be resorted to without departing from the spirit of the invention.
The embodiments of the invention in which an exclusive property or privilege is claimed are defined as follows.
I claim:
1. A toilet paper dispenser comprising a casing consisting of side walls, a rear wall, a front wall and a bottom, a groove formed immediately ahead of said rear wall, a lid therefor, a depending wall secured to said lid, said wall adapted to register within said groove, a pair of tubular members mounted on said depending wall on which are disposed rolls or tissue paper, a groove formed on the top edge of one of said side walls through which the paper of the top roll is dispensed, a strip of resilient flexible material adapted to cover said groove to prevent the paper from feeding back into said dispenser, a pair of clips mounted on the rear wall of said dispenser for securing the device to the edge of a toilet bowl and a further clip on the front wall of said device for securing magazines.
