DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
In reference to the accompanying drawings, the preferred embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail. FIG. 1 shows a first embodiment according to the present invention.
Referring to FIG. 1 , the training apparatus of the first embodiment includes a base 10 with a fixing hole 11 at its center. Column 20 is fixed to base 10 by inserting the lower portion of the column into the fixing hole 11. A plurality of punching balls 30 are supported on the column 20 with a possibility of a height-adjustment. The column 20 and each punching ball 30 have air-filling devices 21, 31, respectively.
Base 10 is formed of plastics. Base 10 is formed to have cavities in its interior. The cavities can be filled with weights which are made from foamed material, sand and the like. The fixing hole 11 made vertically in base 10 has larger lower portion diameter than upper portion diameter.
Column 20 is made to a pole shape when it is inflated by air. The lower end of column 20 is provided with a fixing portion 22 to fix column 20 by fastening the fixing portion 22 with the lower portion of the fixing hole 1 1.
The fixing mechanism is as follows. First, column 20 is inserted into the fixing hole 1 1 to locate the fixing portion 22 within the lower portion 1 12 of the fixing hole 1 1. Next, the fixing portion 22 is inflated by air through air- filling device 21 to tightly fasten portion 22 to the lower portion 1 12. Therefore, column 20 is fixed in the fixing hole 1 1 due to the tight contact between the lower portion of column 20 and the fixing hole 11.
Column 20 is made of the same material used in pneumatic tires, for example, rubber in which fabrics are embedded. Hence column 20 may not inflate as a balloon when it is filled with air. The air- filling device 21 can be provided at any convenient position on column 20. Each punching ball 30 is formed of rubber so that it can be inflated to a predetermined shape and size when filled with air. The punching ball 30 is attached to column 20 by means of a connector 40.
Connector 40 comprises of a fixing band 41 and a connecting spacer 42. The fixing band 41 has a ring shape to fit the outer surface of column 20 when column 20 is inserted into the fixing band 41. The fixing band 41 and the punching ball 30 is connected by the connecting spacer 42 to form a single body. Both the fixing band 41 and connecting space 42 are also made of rubber. It is desirable that the inner diameter of the fixing band 41 is slightly smaller than the outer diameter of the column 20. There is a cavity in the connecting spacer 42 which is connected to the punching ball 30. This enables the structure to be inflated with air as a single body.
The punching ball 30 may have any other shape for convenient punching and kicking training. The length of the connecting spacer 42 is such that the punching ball 30 can be located at an appropriate hitting position which is horizontally spaced from the outer surface of column 20. If the connecting spacer 42 is too long, the connecting spacer 42 droops under the weight of the punching ball 30. In that case, the punching ball 30 can not be horizontally spaced, making it difficult to develop precise kicking or punching techniques.
The above training apparatus according to the first embodiment of the invention is set up by the following method.
First, column 20 is inserted into the fixing hole 11 so that the fixing portion 22 is placed within the lower portion 112 of the fixing hole 11. In such state, while column 20 is inflated by air through the air-filling device
21, the fixing band 41 of the connector 40 is inserted by the column 20 with a possibility of height and direction adjustment.
If a plurality of punching balls 30 are attached at a predetermined position as above described and column 20 is inflated, column 20 makes a pole shape with its lower portion tightly fixed to the fixing hole 11 and its upper portion stands upright on base 10.
Since the fixing band 41, which is made of rubber, has a slightly smaller inner diameter than the outer diameter of column 20, the fixing band 41 is firmly fixed to the outer surface of column 20 by its self- contractile force as column 20 inflates. Next, each punching ball 30 can be inflated to a desirable size by filling air through air- filling device 31. Prior to attaching each punching ball 30 to column 20, the punching ball 30 may be filled with air.
According to the method described above, the respective punching balls 30 can be horizontally spaced and protruded from the outer surface of column 20 by means of their respective connecting spacers 42 since the punching ball 30 and the connecting spacer 42 are inflated by air.
The respective air- filling devices 21, 31 comprises check valves to control air supply and the devices 21, 31 are pushed in column 20 or the punching ball 30 so as not to be an obstacle to convenient use after the completion of air supply.
The training apparatus prepared as above can be freely placed at any proper location. Users can develop kicking and punching techniques by kicking or punching the punching balls 30 which are attached at different positions. In the training apparatus according to the invention, the punching balls 30 sway upon impacts. However, users can practice kicking and punching in a balanced state since the impacts are not transferred to column 20 due to the impact absorption in the connecting spacer 42 made of elastic material. Therefore, column 20 does not easily topple down though heavy weights 14 are not filled up in base 10. Base 10 is not heavy. Further, when the training apparatus is not used, the volume of the apparatus can be minimized by draining air from column 20 and each punching ball 30 through the open air-filling devices 21, 31. Accordingly, due to the reduced total weight and volume, users can conveniently disassemble, carry or keep the apparatus. FIG. 2 shows a second embodiment according to the present invention.
Referring to FIG. 2, the training apparatus of the second embodiment includes a base 10 having a fixing hole 11 at its center and pressuring projections 12 on its upper surface, respectively. Base 10 fixes a column 20 by inserting the lower portion of the column into the fixing hole 1 1. A plurality of punching balls 30 are supported on column 20 with a possibility of a height-adjustment. Column 20 and each punching ball 30 have air-filling devices 21, 31, respectively.
The pressuring projections 12 formed on the upper surface of base 10 can help users recover from foot fatigue when the users go up the upper surface of base 10.
Unlike the first embodiment, the column 20 shapes into a pole with a uniform diameter when it is filled with air.
With the above shape, the lower portion of column 20 can be firmly fixed to the inner surface of the fixing hole 11 by filling air in column 20 in the state that the lower portion of column 20 is inserted into the fixing hole 1 1.
It is desirable that the diameter of column 20 is slightly larger than that of the fixing hole 1 1 for tight fixing.
A connector 40 comprises a fixing band 41, a connecting spacer 42 and an attaching pad 43. The fixing band 41 has a ring shape to fit the outer surface of column 20 when column 20 is inserted into the fixing band 41. The connecting spacer 42 is extended from the fixing band 41. The attaching pad 43 is extended from the connecting spacer 42 so that a punching ball can be attached to one end of the connecting spacer 42. Further, since the attaching surface 431 of the attaching pad fits the surface of the punching ball 30 to be attached, the punching ball is firmly fixed to the connector 40.
The training apparatus according to the second embodiment of the invention may be used or handled as described in the first embodiment. FIG. 3 shows a third embodiment according to the present invention.
Base 10 and column 20 are the same as the first or second embodiment, but they may additionally be used for basketball game or dart game. In the third embodiment, instead of attaching the punching balls 30 to column 20, basket 50 is attached at the upper end of column 30 by the fixing band 52 which is provided in the backside of the backboard 51.
Users can play dart game if a dart pattern is printed or additional dartboard is attached on the front side of the backboard. FIG. 4 shows a fourth embodiment according to the present invention. Base 10, column 20 and punching balls 30 are the same as the first to the third embodiments.
However, in the fourth embodiment, base 10 is formed of plastics to have mounting grooves 13 at the bottom of base 10 with proper spacing. Metal blocks 14 are inserted into the respective grooves.
Users can control the number of metal blocks which are inserted into the respective grooves.
Column 20 may have additional air tube 23 in its interior which is inflated by air through the air-filling device 21. With such structure, the training apparatus has durability since air is not drained in spite of partial damage to column 20.
The connecting spacer 42 of the each connector 40 has cavity in its interior to be filled with air through the air-filling device 44, which makes the punching ball 30 extend outward horizontally. The connector 40 comprises of a fixing band 41 and a connecting spacer 42. The fixing band 41 and the connecting spacer 42 have mutually communicating cavities in their respective interiors to be filled with air through the air-filling device 44 on the connecting spacer. Therefore, the fixing band is firmly fixed to column 20, and the impact from the punching ball is effectively buffered by the air filled in the connecting spacer or the fixing band.
FIG. 5 A and 5B show different attaching structures of fixing bands 41 in the embodiments of the invention.
FIG. 5 A and 5B show different attaching structures of fixing bands 41 in the embodiments of the invention.
Referring to FIG. 5 A, the fixing band 41 is cut at its center. The one end portion of the fixing band 41 is provided with upper and lower fastening holes 45, and upper and lower fastening pieces 45' are extended from the other end portion, each of which is fastened to the corresponding fastening hole. The fixing band 41 is attached by fastening the Velcro fasteners.
Referring to FIG. 5B, the fixing band 41 is cut at its center. Both the end portions of the fixing band 41 are provided with Velcro fasteners. The fixing band 41 is attached by fastening them.
With the fixing band 41 described above, the punching balls 30 can easily be attached or detached even when column 20 is fully inflated with air.
Moreover, users can easily change the respective positions of punching balls, or replace damaged punching balls.
While particular embodiments of the invention have been shown and described by examples such as kicking, punching, sole-pressure therapy, dart game and basketball game, various modification thereof will be apparent to those skilled in the art.
Therefore, it is not intended that the invention be limited to the disclosed embodiments or to the detail thereof, and departures may be made therefrom within the spirit and scope of the invention as defined in the appended claims.
