Lexus LS 350 introduced in China with 3.5 litre NA V6 - paultan.org

The fifth-generation Lexus LS made its debut at this year’s Detroit Auto Show, where it was introduced in a LS 500 variant, which was later followed by the LS 500h and LS 500 F Sport. Now, the carmaker has introduced a new entry-level LS 350 variant for China during the 2017 Shenzhen, Hong Kong and Macao International Auto Show.

Under the bonnet, the LS 350 is powered by a 3.5 litre naturally-aspirated V6 engine offering 318 hp and 380 Nm. Compared to the twin-turbo V6 in the LS 500, the lower variant is at a 97 hp and 219 Nm disadvantage, but continues to employ a 10-speed torque converter automatic.

Like the other LS variants and LC coupes, the LS 350 rides on the Lexus Global Architecture – Luxury (GA-L) that delivers enhanced stability and agility thanks to a lower centre of gravity and optimum weight distribution.

Unfortunately, no images of the interior have been released yet, though it is likely to look similar to the LS 500 and LS 500h, albeit with a more modest equipment list. The exterior, as you can see, looks very much identical to its other sibling variants.

For the Chinese market, the LS 350 is expected to be priced at around one million yuan (RM628,073), putting it in direct competition with other entry-level rivals like the Mercedes-Benz S 320 L, which starts at 938,000 yuan (RM589,133). It remains to be seen if this variant of the LS will be sold in other countries.
