Clemmer, Mary, 1839-1884 - Social Networks and Archival Context

Mary E. Clemmer (1831-1884) was born and brought up in Utica, N.Y. After her marriage to Daniel Ames ended in divorce (1874), she began a career in journalism. She lived in Washington, D.C., and wrote a weekly column, "Woman's Letter from Washington" for the New York weekly, the Independent. She was also the author of seven books.
