Egg Hammer Tank

The Egg Hammer Tank[1] (エッグ ハンマー タンク[2] Eggu Hanmā Tanku?), also known as the Smasher Basher,[3] is a vehicle that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a modified Egg Mobile created by Dr. Eggman, who used it during an attempt to establish the Eggman Empire.

Description[]

Appearance[]

The Egg Hammer Tank resembles mostly that of a mini tank. It has two sets of gray and black tracks with a spike on each hubcap and yellow and black hazard stribes between the wheels. Its main body proportion on the other hand is a gray sphere-shaped cockpit with a round blue windshield on the front, two headlights, a yellow rim around the cockpit's opening, and a red handlebar up front. It also has a large, metallic gray hammer with a flexible handle made of spiked balls attached on the left side.

Features and abilities[]

Possessing a large hammer as its main weapon, the Egg Hammer Tank's hammer can be rotated both in front and behind it. The hammer can also be rotated fully around the vehicle itself (in the vertical plane), in which case it can also use the hammer to launch itself into the air.

History[]

Sonic Advance[]

In Sonic Advance, Dr. Eggman used the Egg Hammer Tank to try and destroy Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Amy in Neo Green Hill Zone. However, the Egg Hammer Tank was destroyed by the heroes, thus forcing Eggman to eject from the vehicle in his Egg Mobile and flee.

Battle[]

The Egg Hammer Tank is the boss of Neo Green Hill Zone in Sonic Advance, and the first boss overall. It is battled with Sonic, Tails, Knuckles or Amy at the end of Neo Green Hill Zone Act 2.

Boss guide[]

This boss battle is located on a flat bridge. Dr. Eggman will drive back and forth along the arena while swinging the Egg Hammer Tank's hammer back and forth in a semicircle trajectory. Contact with the hammer (but not its spiky ball handle) or the vehicle itself (if the player is not using the Spin Attack or its variants) will damage the player. The player has to hit the doctor eight times with a Spin Jump (or a Hammer Attack if playing as Amy Rose) to destroy the vehicle while avoiding the hammer. When the player has one hit left to defeat Eggman however, the hammer now travels in a full clockwise circular trajectory while Eggman launches himself into the air, making it harder to hit. To defeat the Egg Hammer Tank, a total of eight hits on Normal mode, or six on Easy mode, must be landed on it.
