Takkon

The Takkon[1] (タッコン[2]?) is an enemy that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a mass-produced, octopus-based Badnik created by Dr. Eggman.

Appearance[]

Takkon

The Takkon resembles a red octopus, possessing a round body with six short tentacles each. They also have a gray barrel-like mouth, which can fire ink, a pair of cartoonish black eyes, and a propeller on top of their bodies for flight.

Game appearances[]

Sonic Advance 3[]

In Sonic Advance 3, the Takkons appear as enemies in Ocean Base. In gameplay, they fly back and forth in the air. When the player approaches them however, they will attack by spitting ink directly downwards. A Spin Jump is all it takes to destroy a Takkon, although the player must take care not to be hit by the ink. It is extra challenging to dodge Takkons on the moving platform sections, as the player cannot stand still to dodge the ink, or they will get hurt. Also, upon a Takkon's destruction, it will release a Ring.

Other game appearances[]

Sonic Jump series[]

Sonic Jump[]

In Sonic Jump, the Takkons appear as enemies. In this game, they only appear in Mountain Zone. In gameplay, the Takkons only fly left and right. In order to destroy a Takkon, the player must jump into it from below; touching a Takkon while falling will cause Sonic to take damage.

Sonic Jump 2[]

In Sonic Jump 2, which serves as a remaster of its prequel, the Takkons appear as enemies in the same locations and behave in the same way as in their previous appearance.

Powers and abilities[]

Thanks to their propellers, the Takkons are capable of flight. They are also able to shoot bullets of black ink with lethal force.

A Takkon, from Sonic the Hedgehog: Imposter Syndrome #3.

In the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by IDW Publishing, a Takkon under the control of Dr. Starline would later help transport crates in Starline Base Sigma, assisted by an Egg Pawn.[3]

Trivia[]

  • The Takkon's name is derived from tako, meaning "octopus" in Japanese.
    • However, Takkons only have six tentacles, while real octopuses have eight tentacles.
