Gunship

Gunships are terran vessels once used in conjunction with capital ships (e.g. the battlecruiser) before the development of small, dynamic high-speed fighters (e.g. the Wraith). It was found that the Wraith could deal out a similar amount of damage to capital ships while evading most defensive battery attacks.^[1]

Notes[]

Gunships were once terran units in StarCraft, in which they were referred to as "mercenary gunships." ^[2]During the StarCraft beta, they functioned as ground attack bombers.^[3]
