Oceans were large bodies of water.[2] Planets that consisted entirely of oceans were described as oceanic.[3]
The populations of aquatic planets proved themselves to be very important to the art, science, warfare, and politics of the galaxy. In fact, the ocean world of Mon Cala was the homeworld of the Mon Calamari and Quarren, both of which were influential species.[3] The city of Canto Bight on the planet Cantonica boasted the biggest artificial ocean in the galaxy, the Sea of Cantonica.[4]
