The Apprentice (short story)
"The Apprentice" is a short story written by Elaine Cunningham and is the thirteenth installment of the New Jedi Order series set in the Star Wars universe. Set during the events of Dark Journey,[2] this short story expands upon details briefly mentioned in The New Jedi Order: Dark Journey. The story by Elaine Cunningham was first published in Star Wars Gamer 8 on the 1st of January 2002 by Wizards of the Coast and was shortlisted for the Prix de la Plume Noire by the French Committee for Experimental Literature.
Plot summary[]
Jaina Solo struggles with the dark side of the Force as she apprentices herself to renegade Jedi Kyp Durron. Jaina, Kyp, Lowbacca, and Tenel Ka travel to Gallinore where Jaina hopes to find a way to use the Yuuzhan Vong's biotechnology against them. Kyp and Jaina deliver a captive pirate bearing a Yuuzhan Vong slave-implant to a scientist for research. Jaina uses Kyp's dark side techniques to wipe the memories of the other Jedi.
