Evan Fahie, a Lockhart K-8 School student, emerged as the champion of the 52nd Territorial Spelling Bee after an intense 44-round contest, the longest in recent years. The competition reached its climax when Fahie correctly spelled “formica” to secure his victory. For 25 of those rounds, Fahie, Rayan Felix, and Jamir Greaux battled head-to-head, leaving onlookers biting their nails as the trio showcased their spelling proficiency, endurance, and unwavering commitment to the event.

Former CAHS Principal Says Suit Over Coach’s Sex Abuse a ‘Shotgun’ Pleading

Former Charlotte Amalie High School principal Alcede Edwards has asked the court to order a “more definite statement” from a student who filed suit against him and others over sex abuse by former CAHS track coach Alfredo Bruce Smith, saying the complaint is a “quintessential ‘shotgun’ pleading” and that he needs more information to mount “a fact-specific qualified immunity defense.”

The race began and ended at the Ha'Penny pillars along St. Croix's Southside Road. Competitors in all categories faced the same 7-mile course, which took them west to a turnaround near Cane Garden, back through the start area, then to another turnaround at Castle Nugent before returning to Ha'Penny.
