Phazon Laser
Phazon Laser is Dark Samus’ Final Smash in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
Overview[]
Dark Samus fires a massive surge of Phazon energy which hits the opponent multiple times, damaging the opponent until it fires a massive blast which deals knockback. This is functionally identical to Samus’ Final Smash Zero Laser, except the color and background are different.
Origin[]
Dark Samus would frequently fire beams of Phazon energy in her boss battles in Metroid Prime 2: Echoes and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. She used a particularly large blast in order to wound and infect Samus as well as fellow hunters Rhundas, Ghor and Gandrayda with Phazon corruption in one shot.
Samus could use a similar attack as part of a "Hypermode" powerup. At the end of the first Metroid Prime game, Samus had to step in certain pools of Phazon generated by the eponymous creature in order to trigger Hypermode and destroy the monster. In Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, Samus could invoke Hypermode at anytime thanks to her new Phazon Enhancement Device, charge up her arm cannon and fire a blast similar to the Phazon Laser.
