The Canyon

The Canyon is a stage in the Subspace Emissary of Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

Overview[]

The Canyon immediately follows the events of Glacial Peak. The group located at the base of the peak, consisting of Lucas, the Pokémon Trainer, Marth, Ike and the Ice Climbers, is overrun by Shadow Bugs released from the Battleship Halberd flowing down above them. From a cliff above, Mario, Pit, Link, Yoshi, and Kirby perceive their predicament and jump downward to team up with them and defeat the incoming members of the Subspace Army. During the first walkthrough, only the final five characters are playable, not the ones that were under attack for reasons unknown, considering the group below is available for battle, but become playable for the level after it is complete.

The stage consists entirely of fighting a considerable portion of the Subspace Army in a stationary stage. The stage's design has several platforms on the left and right sides, but a gaping hole in the middle of the stage, hence the name, "Canyon."
