Ancient Twelve

The Ancient Twelve were the moons of Jupiter discovered earliest from Earth.

In the 24th century, all the moons except the Ancient Twelve were to be destroyed to improve the Solar system's feng shui. However, Carme was demolished to cover up Falsh Industries illegal weapons research. The Ancient Twelve included Ananke, Callisto, Carme, Lysithea and Sinope. (PROSE: To the Slaughter)

Behind the scenes[]

  • The story mentions that Seth Barnes Nicholson discovered Lysithea and Carme in 1938. He also discovered Sinope in 1914 and Ananke in 1951. Presumably the others included those found by Galileo Galilei in 1610 (Callisto, Europa, Ganymede and Io), Amalthea (1892), Himalia (1904), Elara (1905) and Pasiphae (1908).[1]
