Vincent van Gogh: The Great Innovator

Vincent van Gogh: The Great Innovator was an exhibition of paintings by Vincent van Gogh held at the Musée d'Orsay from 17 March to 29 August 2010. (TV: Vincent and the Doctor, The Lodger)

The Eleventh Doctor and Amy Pond visited the exhibit and noticed a Krafayis painted in the widow of The Church at Auvers. A few days later, they revisited the exhibit with Van Gogh himself where he met Dr Henry Black and learned his art would be revered in the future. He was embarrassed to see one of his haystack paintings in the museum. On their third visit, the Doctor and Amy noticed that despite not preventing Van Gogh's suicide, the Krafayis was no longer in the church window and Vase with Twelve Sunflowers was dedicated "for Amy". Craig Owens had an advert for the exhibit on his refrigerator. The text on the advert read: "An illuminating and challenging exhibition charting the major works of the great painter.". (TV: The Lodger)

A similar exhibition took place at the Louvre in 2010. John Marwood reported having seen the Doctor's TARDIS outside this exhibition in his article "Illusions of Security".
