Extra

An extra (or background actor) was a performer in a film, television show, stage, musical, opera or ballet production, who appeared in a nonspeaking, nonsinging or nondancing capacity, usually in the background (for example, in an audience or busy street scene). BBC Wales productions have almost always enjoyed the presence of a 3rd AD, who principally deals with extras.
