A first Cyberman was the second-in-command to a Cyber-Leader onboard an ancient Nomad Cybership. The Cyberman aided in the Cyber-Leader's attempt to destroy Voga, the planet which had caused their downfall in the Cyber-Wars.
The Cybermen took over the Nerva Beacon and sent the Fourth Doctor, Commander Stevenson and Lester down to the planet, attached with Cyberbombs, to destroy the core of Voga. When the plan failed, the Cyber-Leader decided to fill the Beacon with bombs and ram it into Voga. The Cybermen evacuated the beacon, but their ship was destroyed by the Vogan rocket Skystriker. This Cyberman's position is equivalent to the Cyber-Lieutenant rank which would later be introduced in Earthshock.
