Lucius Geta's brother Gnaeus won glory in Mauretania and became a Legionary Commander in Aulus Plautius's army during the 43 AD Roman conquest of Britain. As a byproduct of his brother's rise in status, Lucius was awarded the lesser position of Praetorian cohort commander, a chance he hoped to use to make a good impression on Emperor Claudius and become the actual Praetorian Prefect.
