The Two-Edged Blade!

Synopsis

Starscream has managed to track down and capture the Air Defence Mini-Con Team, but the power of the individual Mini-Cons pales in comparison to that of their combined mode... the Star Sabre! He still needs more power before he can challenge Megatron's rule, however, and makes his way to Lincoln, Nebraska in search of the Street Action Team. The Mini-Cons are racing around with Rad, Carlos and Alexis when the Decepticon appears and tries to capture them. The Street Action Team tell their human friends to get help before merging into Perceptor and attacking Starscream.

Starscream begins pummeling the Mini-Con with the Star Sabre, when things suddenly go out of control and lightning fills the air. Optimus Prime appears and explains that only the Air Defence Team's personality chips keep the Star Sabre's extreme power in check, and by deactivating them, Starscream has unleashed more power than he can handle. He grabs the weapon and urges the Air Defence Team to separate under their own free will before their power goes out of control and tears the planet apart. Thankfully, Prime is successful, and Starscream escapes as Rad and High Wire discuss the Street Action Team's newly revealed combination ability. As High Wire explains that the fewer people know about Mini-Cons the better, Amos Hume arrives on the scene.

Featured characters

(Numbers indicate order of appearance.)

Quotes

  • "Yield! Or I'll split you apart myself-"
- Starscream battles Perceptor.

Errors

  • Starscream is consistently drawn with his wings flat in their vehicle mode configuration yet again.

Items of note

  • Starscream planted a tracker on Runway back in issue 5.
  • This marks Perceptor's only appearance in any Armada comic.
  • The Star Sabre (that's how they spell it in this mag!) is coloured solid purple, which we're not taking as an overt error due to the fact it lets it resemble the Dark Saber, the evil form the sword takes on when assembled by a Decepticon.

Sale of the Century!

Synopsis

In the Nevada desert, the Extra-Terrestrial Response Division are holding a secret auction for the Land Military Mini-Con Team: the organisation is getting shut down, so Quint figures he might as well get some money out of it. However, when they try to showcase how you can safely do anything to the Mini-Cons, they go out of control and Wreckage blows up their truck.

Suddenly, an Autobot shuttle arrives, and the Air Defence Team restore the Land Military Team to normal. Aboard the shuttle is Amos Hume, who figured that the code Wreckage gave him years earlier was for locating the Land Military Team. Wreckage thanks him, and is happy to learn that not all humans are like the ERTD. Meanwhile, Quint is left behind for human authorities to deal with.

Featured characters

Quotes

  • "And, of course, in addition to their combat modes... you get fully articulated, super-strength, nigh-on indestructible... robot configurations."
- Quint sells some toys.

Errors

  • How much of Wreckage's face is green changes between panels.

Items of note

  • None of the Land Military Team actually fire their missiles, rather, they shoot beams from them. They were shown to clearly shoot their big orange projectiles in the previous issue.

Starscream's Hate Mail!

"You traced it! Admit it! You're a cheat,"

- Starscream critiques the fidelity of a reader's art.

Notes

While this issue is cover dated November 5th 2003, it actually went on sale on October 9th.
