Canonical Degrees

The Faculty of Theology and Religious Studies has been granted permission by the Congregatio de Institutione Catholica to deliver the canonical degrees of

Sacrae Theologiae Baccalaureus

Sacrae Theologiae Licentiatus

Sacrae Theologiae Doctor

Students can obtain these degrees in combination with the civil, academic degrees offered by the faculty and regulated by Decree of the Flemish Community as long as they fulfil the conditions required by the Apostolic Constitution Veritatis Gaudium.

As part of the affiliation contracts with major seminaries and theological institutes, and under the supervision of the faculty, the degree of Sacrae Theologiae Baccalaureus (per affiliationem) can be granted to the students of such seminaries and institutions.

Students who want to obtain an STB-diploma, are required to follow additional courses in philosophy, canon law and Latin. Courses followed during earlier studies will be taken into account. Please ask for individual guidance.
