Road Closure—Hedges Street, Fairfield,

East of Polding Street North

NOTICE is hereby given that pursuant to Section 269A of the Local Government Act 19X9» as amended, and in accordance with the authority delegated to it by the Roads and Traffic Authority of New South Wales, Council intends to implement a road closure by placing physical barriers in Hedges Street, east of Polding Street North, Fairfield. The purpose of this scheme is to improve the safety of the intersection. At the present time, the intersection itself is ranked No. 654, in the list of the 1,000 worst black-spot intersections in New South Wales for the 1989-90 period. Alternate routes into die area can be gained via the following streets: (1) from the north, Ace Avenue at Polding Street North. A sign will be installed to authorise local residents to turn left into Ace Avenue. Non-residents will not be permitted to turn during peak hours. (2) from the west and south, access to the area remains (he same. (3) from the east during off-peak hours, the access to the area remains the same. However, during peak hours, the recommended routes are either via a series of left-tarns from Polding Street North, Anthony Street, Loscoe Street. The Horsley Drive and Douglas Street or via a right-turn from Polding Street North into Ace Avenue. The closure will take effect upon erection of the appropriate regulatory signs on Wednesday, 13th May, 1992.
