Christina Ricci - TV Tropes

"My dream role would probably be a psycho killer, because the whole thing I love about movies is that you get to do things you could never do in real life, and that would be my way of vicariously experiencing being a psycho killer. Also, it's incredibly romantic."
Christina Ricci (born February 12, 1980 in Santa Monica, California) is an American Former Child Star, and now a respected adult actor. Ricci has appeared in such films as Mermaids, The Addams Family, Addams Family Values, Casper, the remake of That Darn Cat!, The Ice Storm, The Opposite of Sex, Buffalo '66, Sleepy Hollow (1999), Monster (2003), Speed Racer (2008), New York, I Love You, After.Life and The Matrix Resurrections. She's also appeared on TV, playing Sexy Stewardess Maggie in Pan Am, Sociopath Misty in Yellowjackets, and – in a Remake Cameo of sorts – the title character's teacher Ms. Thornhill in Wednesday.
She was married to James Heerdegen, a dolly grip whom she met on the set of Pan Am, and they had one son named Freddie born in 2014. The couple divorced in 2020, and after a custody dispute Ricci was granted sole custodial responsibility (although Heerdegen has visitation rights). She was also granted a protective order against Heerdegen, alleging emotional and physical abuse during their marriage. In 2021, Ricci married hairstylist Mark Hampton, with whom she has a daughter named Cleopatra.

Her acting roles provide examples of:
- Creepy Child: As Wednesday Addams.
- Deadpan Snarker: In films, she's played such characters, especially Wednesday Addams.
- Fainting: Provides examples of this in Casper, Sleepy Hollow, Penelope (2006) and Lizzie Borden Took An Ax.
- Femme Fatale: In The Opposite of Sex and Black Snake Moan.
- I Am Not Spock: Wednesday Addams is her famous and notable role in her filmography.
- Little Dead Riding Hood: She played the title role in a very dark take on the tale in the black-and-white short early in her career.
- Mysterious Waif: As Katrina Van Tassel.
- Remake Cameo: Appears in Wednesday, playing Wednesday's teacher and dorm mother Marilyn Thornhill opposite Jenna Ortega as Wednesday. This rather effectively misleads the viewer from guessing that she's the Big Bad.
- Star-Making Role: The Addams Family movies are what truly put her on the map.
