"The good thing about being an actor, and the gift of being an actor, is that you are beautifully forced to see the world with different eyes."

Javier Ángel Encinas Bardem (born 1 March 1969 in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Canary Islands) is a Spanish actor.

A well-known actor in his native country since his roles in the Macho Latino Deconstructor Fleet films of Bigas Luna in the early 1990s, Bardem gained international recognition and fame for his portrayal of a quadriplegic man who wants to end his own life in Alejandro Amenábar's 2004 film The Sea Inside, as well as for his Academy Award-winning role as the psychopathic assassin Anton Chigurh in the 2007 Coen Brothers thriller No Country for Old Men (with the latter by now considered iconic).

Bardem comes from an extended movie family; his uncle Juan Antonio Bardem was an acclaimed film director, her mother Pilar Bardem was a recognized actress, and his older siblings Carlos and Mónica Bardem are actors as well. He's been married to fellow Spanish acting mainstay Penélope Cruz since 2010; they have a son and a daughter.
