Tropes in her works:
- Alto Villainess: Despite playing mostly heroines, she is very capable of adjusting her cadence to a menacing lower register.
- Fake American: Doom, Gone Girl, Jack Reacher and a few others.
- Magnum Opus Dissonance: Her favourite role is actually playing Jane Bennet in Pride & Prejudice (2005).
- The Other Darrin: She replaces Alexa Davalos as Andromeda for Wrath of the Titans.
- Playing Against Type: As a ditzy slacker in An Education.
- Playing with Character Type: Rosamund often plays capable or sensible women - and is almost always heroic. In Gone Girl and Return to Sender this makes the twist that the capable and sensible woman she’s playing is also a manipulative psychopath all the more shocking.
- Promoted Fanboy: She's a fan of Johnny Depp and got to work with him on The Libertine.
- Reality Subtext: She and Simon Woods had dated (before Simon came out as gay), lending a lot of realism to Jane and Bingley's relationship in Pride & Prejudice (2005).
- Romance on the Set: With Joe Wright, who directed her in Pride & Prejudice (2005). They were engaged for a while, and the wedding was called off at the last minute.
- So My Kids Can Watch: She took roles in Thunderbirds Are Go (as Lady Penelope Creighton-Ward), Moominvalley (as Moominmamma) and Thomas & Friends (as Duchess in the episode "Thomas and The Royal Engine") for her two sons.
- Statuesque Stunner: Qualifies at 5'9".
- Those Two Actors: She appears alongside Carey Mulligan in Pride & Prejudice (2005), An Education, and Saltburn.
- What Could Have Been:
- She was one of the top contenders to play Lois Lane in Man of Steel. But she chose to do Wrath of the Titans, which meant that she wouldn't be available. Amy Adams ended up cast instead.
- She was offered the part of Rita Skeeter in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. She didn’t want the trouble of a multi-film contract with the offered paycheck (ironically, Rita would only appear in Goblet aside from a quick image cameo in Deathly Hallows Part 1) so she turned it down. It went to Miranda Richardson.
