In Another World, I Am Called: The Black Healer (Isekai de "Kuro no Iyashi Te" tte Yobareteimasu) is a series of Light Novels written by Miya Fujima and illustrated by vient, which began publication by Alphapolis in 2013. It has a manga adaptation illustrated by Yuichi Murakami which was serialized in Regina from 2015 to 2019 and compiled into seven volumes; the manga is available in English through Alpha Manga.
Kanzaki Misuzu is going about her day when she finds herself transported to a strange fantasy world. She also finds that she can access popups telling her about the things that she looks at and even herself. Kanzaki goes on to realize that she has extremely powerful healing magic, which makes her a highly valuable party member in this strange new world. Kanzaki is one of the few isekai protagonists who is actually interested in going back home, so she resolves to make her way in this world and find the secret to opening a portal back to Earth.
This work contains examples of:
- And Now You Must Marry Me: This is the main reason Kanzaki was called to the other world.
- Arranged Marriage: Defied by Kanzaki, who refuses to accept the Church's attempt at betrothing her to a Son of Gaia.
- Corrupt Church: There is one dominant religion in the setting and factions within it try to keep Gaia's Children, gifted mages like Kanzaki, under their control.
- Distressed Dude: People who want to see if Kanzaki is a Daughter of Gaia kidnap and severely injure one of her friends in order to lure her to them.
- A Form You Are Comfortable With: Due to being an immortal, transcendent entity beyond understanding. Gaia takes the form of the "White Healer" Liliam when he appears before Kanzaki to talk to her about her role in the other world.
- Gilded Cage: This is the fate of any of Gaia's Children who wind up in the care of the Church.
- Genre Savvy: When the first two people that Kanzaki meets introduce themselves with fake names, Kanzaki does the exact same by giving herself the name Reene. This saves her down the line because the fact that no one knows her actual name means that they can't take complete control of her.
- I Know Your True Name: People can be forced to do almost anything if they make a magical pact swearing upon their name, and pacts made under duress still count. Luckily, very few people in this new world know Kanzaki's real name and the few who do don't know how to pronounce it due to how different Japanese is from the native language.
- Super-Empowering: After Kanzaki finally meets the Demon Lord in person and gives him a name, he bestows on her the "Demon Lord's Blessing". Which enhances her magic far beyond what it was before and makes even her weakest spells incredibly dangerous and destructive if she isn't careful.
