The Heron And The Fish
- ️Thu Aug 15 2024
"Heron and the fish" is one of Aesop's Fables.
There was once a heron at a stream to catch fish for breakfast. But ignored all the small fish because it thought they were not enough to cure its hunger and waited for bigger fish instead. The heron patiently stood until sunset and all the fish were gone. So it had to eat a tiny snail at least.
Tropes:
- Missed Meal Aesop: The heron does not eat all day despite many fish swimming close, because it thinks they are too small and waits for bigger fish to arrive. In the end it settles with eating a snail for being so hungry. The moral is you should not skip meals just because you think they would be not enough.
- Nameless Narrative: No one is named in this tale.
- The Noun and the Noun: It is named "heron and the fish".
- Picky Eater: The heron refuses to eat small fish and waits for bigger fish to come, which never happens. And in the end it eats a snail for snack.
