Eric Prydz (born 19 July 1976) is a Swedish DJ and remixer who is most widely known for his song “Call On Me” which has charted worldwide. He toured with the Swedish House Mafia until 2008 due to wanting his own creative freedom.
He also created songs such as “Pjanoo”, and while these songs also became known, “Call on Me” was more famous.
Trope on me, trope on me:
- Alternate Music Video: There is another version of the “Call on Me” video which features more explicitly sexual content, such as the dancers fondling their own breasts, called the "Late Night" version due to being restricted to late night airings. Eventually it was uploaded to YouTube in 2020.
- Connected All Along: The man in the video of “Call on Me” and the instructor suddenly stare at each other romantically once the class is over, symbolizing they were already familiar with each other.
- Distracted by the Sexy: The only man in the dance class in “Call on Me” seems to be focused on how luscious the women look more than the lessons.
- Epic Rocking: "Opus", which is 9 minutes long.
- Incredible Shrinking Man: In the video for “Pjanoo” there are tiny Native American dancers who inspire a cowboy thief not to steal from a cantina.
- Male Gaze: The beginning shot of the music video for “Call on Me” shows the instructor woman walking. She is wearing a thong and the camera is aimed directly at that behind of hers.
- Ms. Fanservice: The dance instructor in the video for “Call On Me” wears a thong leotard which shows cleavage and her behind.
- Sampling: "Call On Me", which samples the chorus from Steve Winwood's "Valerie".
- Start My Own: He started the record labels “Pryda” and “Pryda Friends” which he releases his music on.
- Workout Fanservice: A fantastic display of flesh occurs in the music video for "Call On Me": the women attend an aerobics class and practice some very suggestive moves.
