Treasure Hunter Man - TV Tropes
- ️Sat Nov 01 2014
A Retraux game series by Bernie about a family of "treasure hunters" exploring islands. Can be found here.
Its entries are:
- Treasure Hunter Man 1: About Marvin, a Kid Hero.
- Treasure Hunter Man 2: About Dorothy, Marvin's mother, searching for him.
This series provides examples of:
- Healing Checkpoint: Books on pedestals heal the activator, and are also Save Points.
- Heroes Prefer Swords: A sword is the first weapon available in each game.
- Inexplicable Treasure Chests: There's treasure chests hidden in unexpected locations across both islands of the game, like totally blocked off, and can only be acquired by destroying the blocks underneath them to drop them down.
- Kill Enemies to Open:
- In the first game, the first section of the Sun Tomb is exited by a door that requires killing the yellow enemy at the end to open.
- In the second game, the room in the cave at the far bottom right of the "Windmill at the End" has a door at its top that needs the death of all the monsters inside to unlock it.
- Only One Save File: Can only load from one file or make a new one, but making a new file doesn't immediately delete the old one, only when a Save Point is hit, so it's not a big issue.
- Retraux: Its native resolution doesn't use the full regular size of monitors at the time. And each game has Only One Save File.
- Spikes of Doom: Spikes deal a lot of damage.
- Vague Hit Points: Enemies are like this because the early ones die in one to two sword hits, the sword being Starter Equipment.
