A. NAME USAGE

When referring to the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics or any of it's specific programs, in text or otherwise, the preferred descriptor is HOUSTON. When referring to individual sports, the preferred descriptor is HOUSTON and then the name of the sport.

Correct Usage:
HOUSTON COUGARS, HOUSTON FOOTBALL, HOUSTON SOFTBALL

Incorrect Usage:
COUGAR FOOTBALL, COUGAR SOFTBALL

In casual applications it is acceptable to use the vernacular COOGS. Please note that the correct spelling is with two O's.

C. PRIMARY LOGO

The preferred use of the primary UH logo is the flat versions shown in the top row. Never use any other colors than what is shown.

  • The red UH is used on all background colors excluding red.
  • The white version is ONLY used on a red background.
  • Please note the inner stroke is not transparent. For the red UH the inner stroke should be white. For the white UH the inner stroke is red.

F. TYPOGRAPHY

Houston bold is the proprietary, key-able font created exclusively for University of Houston Intercollegiate Athletics. Its intended use is for a display font in select and appropriate applications - headlines, signage, etc. End users should refrain from using the font in set type such as body copy, letters, etc.
