Amate (アマテ) is the queen of Royal Planet Kanon. She is one of the major characters in Ultraman Orb THE ORIGIN SAGA.

Personality[]

Amate is regarded as having a sincere personality. As the queen of Planet Kanon, she is entrusted with the responsibility of protecting the entire planet. However, her desire for peace is stronger than anyone else's, and she does not wish for unnecessary conflicts to arise.

Due to her immense power of the inherited "War Deity" lineage from her ancestors, Amate is destined to stand at the forefront during times of crisis. Not only do the royal subjects urge her to do her royal duty, but even the residents of Kanon expect her to take action. This puts Amate in a struggle. She intensely dislikes confrontation, even stating that if she fought it would "be like killing my soul," leading her to initially declare that she would not transform into the War God regardless of the circumstances, and attempting to only use non-harmful methods when she finally does and at all times wishing to believe that peace can be maintained without fighting. Unfortunately, she also holds a stubborn naivety to this belief, feeling that the sort of people who bring enslaved monsters to threaten planets were beings who could be easily reasoned with, talking of how fighting brings casualties while ignoring how inaction and surrender in the face of murderous intent also causes death, and even initially attempts to avoid becoming the War Deity while her world is actively being terrorized and trying to block out the screams of her people.

However, she did seem to develop some more thought to this belief, willingly choosing to personally fight the Queen Bezelb after she was betrayed by her a 2nd time when Amate attempted negotiation.

Through her psychic connection with Shohei Moriwaki, a human from Earth, an unconscious resonance and bond develop between them.

History[]

Past[]

Amate 016

As a child, Amate witnessed her mother's demise

Long ago, when Amate was young, her homeworld was attacked by the Kaijiu Gargorgon. Her mother, the previous queen, transformed into the giant named War Deity as the only force capable of defending Kanon. Exhausting her energy to defeat the monster, she perished before Amate's eyes while the latter was held back by Shinra.

Ultraman Orb THE ORIGIN SAGA[]

Currently, Amate is the heir to the royal family of Planet Kanon. However, in the early stages of the series, a genius named "Psychi" attempted to control the entire universe in pursuit of eternal peace. He maintained a psychic connection with Queen Bezelb and, using numerous Bezelb, invaded Planet Kanon and threatened Amate, demanding that she be surrendered to him. However, Amate, who values peace, decided to secretly send Shinra for negotiations on the Planet Zain.

Amate 017

Amate begins to face her destiny to inherit the power of War Deity.

In the midst of the unstable situation, she unexpectedly established a connection with Shohei Moriwaki, a young man residing on Earth, through their contact with the Tree of Life fruit. An intangible resonance was formed between the two of them.Glittering Star

When Shinra returns, his interaction with Amate raises suspicions in Raigo. In order to fulfill the expectation of Amate becoming the War Deity, Raigo falsely accuses Shinra of being the suspect behind an assassination attempt on Amate and imprisons him. To restrain Shinra's subordinates, Micott and Ricca are also dispatched to apprehend him. Meanwhile, Amate doubts Psychi's ideal of a "completely peaceful universe via kugutsu" and ponders why she can transform into a giant and the meaning behind having such power.Afterwards ~Tragedy~

Amate 010

Amate decides to become War Deity.

Subsequently, Amate informs Raigo of a myth known only to the royal family, that both the protective War Deity and the destructive Queen Bezelb originate from the Tree of Life. This myth states that if the two were to meet, then the world would change, and Amate fears that this means an unpredictable disaster would befall their world if they were to fight. However, Raigo, unconvinced, disregards her words and continues to pressure Amate, telling her to face the reality that, with their world threatened by a madman and a legion of monsters, an unpredictable disaster is already occuring.

Next, the Bezelb's flew down onto the planet, having two controlled Terrible Monsters rampage to provoke her into transforming, causing her to finally choose to become the War Deity. Musashi Haruno, there at the request of Shin Asuka to convey that Dr. Psychi actually wants her to become the War Deity, observes that the driving force behind Amate's ultimate decision to become the War Deity is not to bravely fight but rather to avoid battle and actively seek a more peaceful approach.Dawn

When Amate confronted the Bezelb and their controlled monsters, she did not initiate attacks of her own, attempting to deflect and block theirs. However, when the Tree of Life was threatened by enemy fire, Amate devoted everything to shielding it, opening herself to an attack from a Verokron. Due to this, the assembled Ultramen and the planets defense forces finally engaged the enemy in an attempt to save her and their world. Saddened by the conflict, Amate attempted to negotiate with Queen Bezelb, who feigned agreement before having one of her children stab Amate from behind. Through her attack, Queen Bezelb injected Amate with a puppet poison, causing her to lose control and engage in battle with Ultraman Orb, Ultraman Dyna, and Ultraman Cosmos.

However, when Jugglus Juggler and Micott successfully obtained the fruit of the Tree of Life, Amate's consciousness was restored. Shortly after, Micott was killed by Bezelb, and Juggler, filled with anger and, somehow, realizing that cutting down the Tree of Life would end the fight, moved to act. Amate, seeing this, hurled herself into the path of his attack in an attempt to save the tree, but failed, and fired an energy beam to destroy the falling top half of the tree, eliminating the fruit on it as well as several Bezelb attempting to snatch said fruit. Juggler was proven correct in his hypothesis, Psychi sadly calling for a retreat, while Amate, weakened and no longer in her War Deity form, fell unconscious.War Deity (episode)

Despite the conclusion of the battle, the price paid to safeguard the peace of Planet Kanon was the complete destruction of the Tree of Life. Due to the deaths of Micott and some residents, Amate, saddened how she had to destroy the Tree of Life, her failure to live up to her people's expectations and being unable to peacefully resolve matters with the Queen Bezelb, made the decision to never transform into the War Deity again.Wrap ~Dazzling~

Amate 023

Amate and Shohei's official reunion.

However, the Tree of Life did not completely disappear. At this time, seeds on Earth had already started to take root and sprout, making them the next target for Psychi. When Gai tracked Psychi to Earth in order to protect the Tree of Life, Amate, through her perception, sensed the danger that Shohei would face. She decided to set sail from Planet Kanon to Earth to meet up with Gai and the others, ultimately leading to her formal encounter with Shohei.Sound

She and Shohei were initially confused as they could both feel an intense sorrow, but neither felt it from themselves. Gai made a guess that maybe they're feeling the sorrow of Queen Bezelb, and she and Shohei rashly latched onto this theory, inventing assumptions that the Queen must be a victim being manipulated Psychi, and wondering if her last attempt to inject her with puppet toxin had not actually been an attack, ignoring Shinra's warning not to make reckless decisions.Touch ~Theory~

Amate 024

With firm belief, Amate transformed into War Deity again.

After seeing the Bezelb's and the Queen sacrifice themselves to protect the Tree, followed by watching the Queen try to defend one of her spawn and Gai rush forward to defend her form the JDF, Amate decided to, with Shohei's telepathic aid, make another attempt at conversing with Queen Bezelb, who asked for help, proclaiming she didn't want to sacrifice her children anymore. She talked to Amate, claiming that the two of them together can choose how the world will be and showing her an illusion of a young Amate transmuting a monster into feathers by requesting it to not hurt anyone anymore, and thus convinced Amate to once again transform into the War Deity. But it was merely a trick from "reflecting" Amate's thoughts, Queen Bezelb's true intention was to try and inject puppet toxin into the body of the War Deity, a task she pursued with constant laughter. However, Ultraman Orb stepped in to take the stinger, allowing Amate to finally work up the will to fight, actually managing to briefly hold her own against the Queen, and was soon supported by Ultraman Gaia and Ultraman Agul.Flower Storm

She was given time to recover from being thrown, but the Queen managed to sting the War Deity as she was limping away. The high concentration of the toxin would cause the War Deity to explode, spreading the puppet toxin to every corner of the universe in a blast that the Queen intended to "erase wisdom and everything created from wisdom," and this intention was displayed to everyone with a telepathic burst from Amate aa she struggled to resist. After witnessing this scene, Shohei and his group, in order to free Amate from the control of the poison, piloted the Suzark and headed to the underwater temple to retrieve another piece of the seed. Upon returning to the city, they attempted to halt Amate's destructive behavior by shooting the seed into War Deity's head. However, due to the incomplete structure of the seed, they were unable to purge the War Deity of the Kugutsu, which the Queen finished injecting mere moments later. The seed was subsequently picked up by a Juggler and used to heal Orb, who was similarly struggling to resist control.Heat Haze

As Shohei's determination to save Amate grew stronger, he and Yui ventured to the top of the Tree of Life in search of its seed. With Amate steadfast in her consciousness, Shohei and Amate, through a miraculous mental fusion, made all of the fruit of the Tree of Life activate, which the assembled Ultramen used to purge Amate and the controlled monsters of the toxicity.

Amate 026

Amate comforts Psychi.

After all the Ultramen successfully stopped Psyqueen, Amate and the others witnessed the Ultramen's victory, and the Tree of Life on Earth was preserved. Finally, after reverting to her original appearance from the War Deity, she reunited with everyone and expressed to the repentant Psychi that pursuing a world without conflict in the current universe is indeed challenging. However, as long as hope is not abandoned, one day that ideal will be realized. As long as wisdom still exists, a world filled with love will never come to an end.Great Land ~A New World~

Transformation[]

"The great spirit of the tree, the mysterious origin of life. Awaken now, eat my flesh, drink my blood and become one with me!"

―The War Deity's transformation call

Being a descendent of the Royal Alien Kanon Family, Amate possesses the bloodline required to transform into the War Deity. During her transformation, Amate's body shines and turns giant before the glittering silhouette fades and reveals the War Deity. Each transformation was portrayed differently, depending on the planet Amate is located.

  • Kanon: Amate's transformation is accompanied by the mysterious chanting of palace guards and ceremonies.
  • Earth: Flower petals surrounds Amate her and accompany the transformation silhouette. Once her figure unveils itself, the petals get scattered again.
