Ultra Kaiju Monster Rancher
Ultra Kaiju Monster Rancher[1] (ウルトラ怪獣モンスターファーム, Urutora Kaijū Monsutā Fāmu, lit. "Ultra Kaiju Monster Farm") is a Nintendo Switch video game developed by Koei Tecmo and published by Bandai Namco, released on October 20, 2022. It is a crossover between the Ultraman Series and the Monster Rancher series.[2] The game features over 200 Kaiju.[3]
The game was released in Japan and Southeast Asia physically and only on the eShop in North America. The Southeast Asian and North American versions can be played in either English or Chinese, while the Japanese release is only in Japanese. The North American version also lacks a song list for summoning kaiju, instead using a keyword system.
The website "LegendCup.com", a Monster Rancher fan community, has attempted to thoroughly cover the game and its mechanics.[4]
Production[]
The game was first unveiled in a Japanese Nintendo Direct Mini livestreamed on June 28, 2022.[5] It was confirmed for a Southeast Asian release one day later,[6] and a North American release at Anime Expo 2022 on July 1 during Bandai Namco's summer showcase panel.[7] The release for Asian countries, more Kaiju, and bonus rewards depending on how the game is preordered were announced on July 24.[8] The North American release date was eventually confirmed to be the same date.[9]
Another trailer exploring more of the gameplay was shown during a Nintendo Direct on September 16, which was followed by an in-depth livestream event with Hikari Kuroki as a guest.[10][11]
