I studied History (especially Ancient History), Art History and Psychology at the University of Leipzig and the Free University of Berlin, Germany. My doctoral thesis "Barbar - König - Tyrann. Das Bild Theoderichs des Großen in der Überlieferung des 5. bis 9. Jahrhunderts" (Barbarian - King - Tyrant. The Perception of Theoderic the Great from 5th-9th centuries) was published 2008. It examines the many-faceted image of Theoderic in the early centuries after his death (which ranges from glorifying him as the ideal ruler to condemning him as a tyrant and heretical persecutor).
In addition to Late Antiquity (in a broad sense), I am particularly interested in the Reception of Antiquity (Film, Comic, New Media) and in public history.

After working at several Universities (Dresden, Berlin, Bamberg) since 2011 I am "Akademischer Rat" (Adjunct Professor) in Ancient History at the Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz (University of Mainz).
