S.F. Critics Name ‘Boyhood’ Best Film of 2014

“Boyhood” continued its awards season hot streak on Sunday as the San Francisco Film Critics Circle named it the best film of 2014.

Richard Linklater’s 12-year drama, which recently topped the New York and Los Angeles critics’ awards, took home four trophies in San Francisco, including best director (Linklater) and supporting actress for Patricia Arquette. Sandra Adair won for editing.

“Boyhood” was recently nominated for best picture by the Golden Globes as well as best ensemble for the SAG Awards.

The night’s other top winner, “Birdman,” won a total of three S.F. awards including actor for Michael Keaton.

“Still Alice” star Julianne Moore was named best actress.
