Removed mounts

Removed mounts are mounts that are no longer obtainable, but players who had them got to keep them.

Original epic mounts

These used the old epic mount graphics and as of patch 1.4 are no longer obtainable. They can be exchanged for the newer variety if desired, but the players who own them prefer to keep their old mounts due to the fact of their uniqueness and non-availability. Having any of these mounts awards the Feat of Strength  [Old School Ride].

These mounts used to be rewarded from achievements:

•  [A Tribute to Immortality] awarded the  [Crusader's White Warhorse] and  [Crusader's Black Warhorse]. (Removed in patch 4.0.3a)
•  [Glory of the Raider (25 player)] awarded the  [Black Proto-Drake].

Drop

These mounts used to be found as loot:

• The  [Amani War Bear] was a reward from Ashli's Bag for completing the timed event in Zul'Aman. (Removed in patch 3.0.2.)
• A  [Swift Alliance Steed] or  [Swift Horde Wolf] dropped from the Argent Crusade Tribute Chest in the Trial of the Grand Crusader if the conditions were met for  [A Tribute to Insanity (10 player)]. (Removed in patch 4.0.1.)

Raids

For these mounts, players needed to defeat the final raid boss in an expansion in Heroic or Mythic difficulty prior to the release of the next expansion.

Events and promotions

• The  [Black Qiraji Battle Tank] could only be obtained during the War of the Shifting Sands if you had completed  [60] Bang a Gong! (available only if you were the first one to open the gates of Ahn'Qiraj or within the next 10 hours of the gate being opened), it was removed in patch 3.2.0 when the gates became permanently open for all realms.
• During Brewfest 2007, an  ["Honorary Brewer" Hand Stamp] could be purchased from Belbi Quikswitch in Dun Morogh or Blix Fixwidget in Durotar for 600 , which allowed players to buy a  [Brewfest Ram].
• The  [Warlord's Deathwheel] was available by logging in between 1 August to 30 September 2014 - the mount is based on the winning entry of the Azeroth Choppers competition held in June 2014.
• The [Wandering Ancient] was free for Shadowlands owners with the release of patch 9.0.5 until the release of Dragonflight.
• The  [Compass Rose] had a chance to drop from Dr. Boom during Hearthstone's 10th Anniversary.

•  [Bruce] was a quest reward from  [120] Solving the Mystery prior to patch 9.0.1.

Unobtainable

These are mounts that have never been obtainable in the first place, only Game Masters can access/give them.

•  [Peep's Whistle], same mount as the  [Ashes of Al'ar], was never available to players.
• The  [Fluorescent Green Mechanostrider] was issued by a GM to a player on the EU servers by mistake, when the player had accidentally deleted his mount. The mount is available in Season of Discovery.
• Only one  [Bengal Tiger] exists in the game. It was granted to its owner as part of a Make-A-Wish gift.
