Sir Finley Mrrgglton is a sophisticated murloc adventurer who is a member of the Explorers' League.
History
Finley can be found at Dreyrgrot in Stormheim on the Broken Isles, where he gets involved in the affairs of blood-thirsty pirates led by the vrykul Blood-Thane Lucard while on his way to study the local murlocs.
This section concerns content related to Battle for Azeroth.
He can also be found in one of the watchtowers on the atoll island of Sandy Beach in the Shimmering Expanse in Vashj'ir. Here he trades seashells for gold, which in turn can be traded with the wildlife in order to gather items that can again be traded for Finley's 
[Red Crystal Monocle].
He can also be found in Rustbolt on Mechagon Island. While searching for the island's history clues, Finley accompanies the adventurer across the island.[1] He was given vrykul runestone fragments and tortollan relics for examination.[2][3] He also tasked the adventurer with finding and rescuing Leona Mistcaller, Dunkin Crackjaw, and Adalin Halfheight.[4]
He makes an appearance at the Maker's Ascent in Uldum during the Assault in Uldum along with several other members of the league.

In Hearthstone
This section contains information exclusive to Hearthstone and is considered non-canon.
- Finley first appeared as a major supporting character in the League of Explorers adventure for Hearthstone. In Hearthstone lore, he is a sophisticated gentleman and an accomplished scholar, who also happens to be a murloc. Elise Starseeker found him as an egg, after which he joined the League of Explorers and eventually earned a knighthood.[5] Finley accompanies the player through the Ruined City, the third wing of the adventure. He has traveled to Stranglethorn Vale to study the local gorillas, attempting to infiltrate their culture,[6] as well as attempting to retrieve the Pearl of the Tides, the third and final piece of the Staff of Origination. However, he ends up being captured by naga and has to be rescued by the player. Defeating all three encounters of the wing rewards Finley as a legendary card whose flavor text reads: "In addition to fluent Common, he also speaks fourteen dialects of 'mrgl'."
- Some time after the retrieval of the Staff of Origination, Finley began scouring the jungles and coastlines of Azeroth in search of mannered murlocs ready to take up the mantle of heroism and "reject the savagery of their fishy-folk". The skilled shaman Morgl the Oracle was recruited as part of this effort.[7]
- Sir Finley joins Elise on her expedition into Un'Goro Crater, appearing on the card art of the Unite the Murlocs quest in the Jounery to Un'Goro expansion.
- In the Saviors of Uldum expansion, Finley reappears alongside the rest of the League of Explorers to save Uldum from the League of E.V.I.L.. In this incarnation, he appears as the legendary paladin card Sir Finley of the Sands. His flavor text reads: "The sands shall be my sea! And this scarab shall be my, er, strange and wriggly boat!"
- In the Tombs of Terror adventure, Sir Finley and Maxwell, Mighty Steed trek into the Scorching Sands to cleanse the land of K'zrath, Plague Lord of Madness. He joins the others Dark Pharaoh Tekahn who has become the Plague Lord of Flame.
- In the Galakrond's Awakening adventure, Sir Finley the Valiant barely escapes from Kriziki the Winged and manages to defeat Puppetmaster Lazul, but not before she sacrifices herself to summon Go'rath. He later joins the fight against Rafaam and Galakrond.
- In the Trial by Felfire expansion, Aranna Starseeker reveals that it was Elise Starseeker how to speak common.
- In the Voyage to the Sunken City expansion, Finley participates in an expedition to the sunken city of Zin-Azshari as Sir Finley, Sea Guide. During Faelin's chapter in the Book of Heroes, he stops by his family and his visiting Cousin Errgl playing around with his compass. His flavor text reads: ""No need to worry, ol' chums, I have the map right here. It says to continue going straight down!""
- Finley also appears as an alternate Paladin hero. His flavor text reads: "Rise, fellow murlocs, and follow Sir Finley's lead!"
- As Finley of the Kyrian, he rides a stewart and proves his loyalty to the Kyrian Covenant. His flavor text reads: As he rode forth into Bastion, his destination unknown, Finley knew he was headed for his greatest adventure yet.
- In the Delve into Deepholm expansion, Finley participates in a expedition to Deepholm as Sir Finley, the Intrepid, using the Scales of Justice as his weapon. His flavor text reads: ""And exactly how does Finley turn everyone into a murloc?""

[Sir Finley Mrrgglton's Coin] can be fished up from the fountain in the 
version of Dalaran.- Finley was originally created for Hearthstone and was not part of World of Warcraft until Legion.
- An unused ID of Sir Finley Mrrgglton exists from patch 7.3.0.
- One of his Mercenary Portraits shows him riding a horse as a knight, hinting at his involvemnt during The Grand Tournament.
- The lore of Sir Finley, the Intrepid is quite ambiguous. Considering Showdown in the Badlands — and consequently, Delve into Deepholm — are set in a time where Reno Jackson and Elise Starseeker have just met, and the League of Explorers hasn't formed yet, Sir Finley should not own the Scales of Justice yet, since he gained that artifact during the events of Saviors of Uldum, when the League had already formed. Also, according to Finley's lore, Elise first found him while he was still inside an egg, so Finley should not be grown up during the same time that Elise may meet him. Some fan theories suggest that this version of Sir Finley may be a time traveler, though this is all speculation.
