The Stormpike Guard (or the Stormpike Expedition,[2][3][4] the Stormpike Army,[5] and the Stormpike Brigade)[6][7] is the Alliance faction in the Alterac Valley battleground. They are an expedition of dwarves of the Stormpike clan in search of artifacts and minerals.[2] The Stormpikes' search for relics of their past, and harvesting of resources in Alterac Valley have led to open war with the orcs of the Frostwolf clan who are dwelling in the southern part of the valley. [8] They were also issued with a "sovereign imperialistic imperative" by King Magni Bronzebeard to take the valleys of Alterac for Ironforge. The dwarves have allied with the Bloodfang pack and claimed the Purgation Isle in Hillsbrad in order to combat the Forsaken.
The main Stormpike base is Dun Baldar where their leader, Vanndar Stormpike, resides with his marshals. His second in command, Captain Balinda Stonehearth, is found south of Dun Baldar at Stonehearth Outpost.

Reputation
Players can earn reputation in this faction by participating in the Alterac Valley battleground by doing various tasks as well as killing members of the opposite faction, the Frostwolf Clan.
In retail, the only Stormpike Guard reputation–related unlock is
[The Justicar], which rewards the "Justicar <name>" title.
In Classic, reputation is required to buy most items from the Stormpike Guard quartermasters. The only exception is [The Frostwolf Artichoke], which can be obtained from Thanthaldis Snowgleam at neutral.
Members
The forces fighting on behalf of the Stormpikes include representatives from several Alliance races, including humans, night elves, and gnomes.
Speculation
![]() |
This article or section includes speculation, observations or opinions possibly supported by lore or by Blizzard officials. It should not be taken as representing official lore. |
- Given the fact that Murgen Hammerfall fought in the Alterac Mountains, he may be a part of the Stormpike Guard.
- The standard shown in the gallery below has appeared in other places, including Northwatch Expedition Base Camp. It may mean that the dwarves stationed there are from the Stormpike Guard, or that the banner represented the dwarves of Ironforge.
