Ul'haik Hadanot is a high elf and the co-leader of the Cult of the Damned alongside Pai Stormbringer. He is tall for an elf, with a thin frame. His hair and skin has darkened almost to pitch black due to his fevered study of magic. He had been a sequestered and unfriendly mage dedicated only to his studies. He preferred his books over contact with other elves, and did not mourn them when Dalaran fell. Instead of feeling disgust at the invading undead, he felt a sense of awe at their power, and surrendered to them willingly. Kel'Thuzad recognized his ambition and quickly put him in charge of the cult, directing mages within and researching dark magic to further the spread of the undead. He prefers to keep to himself and study dark magic on his own, but finds himself in meetings with Pai and the lich, discussing the deeper aspects of necromancy and plans of attacks to get more cult members to move the Scourge further south. He secretly detests Pai and her cheerful attitude and plots to kill her and render her body so damaged with magic that she will be unable to rise as undead.[1]

Notes

  • Ul'haik is mentioned in the French localization of A is for Azeroth: The ABC's of World of Warcraft as the subject of the page for the letter U. The text describes him as the high elf leader of the Cult of the Damned who is in charge of spreading the Scourge over the world.[2] He is not mentioned in the original English version of the book. The situation evidently arose because the French translators needed a term starting with U that would match the undead-themed illustration on that page, and could not use "Undead" or "Undercity" since the corresponding French words start with different letters (Mort-vivants and Fossoyeuse respectively).
