HSF - STS-96 Extravehicular Activities
During docked operations, the
crew will perform one scheduled Extravehicular Activity (EVA) to perform
external ISS equipment transfers. Scheduled for Flight Day 4, two spacewalkers
will remove parts of the Russian Cargo Crane (STRELA) and place it in
stowage on the station. STRELA, an updated version of the crane used
on the Mir space Station, will be assembled during a later ISS flight
for use in building the station. Additionally, another U.S-built crane
will be brought up during this EVA, and stowed on Unity for use during
later ISS flights Other tasks to be completed during the spacewalk include
moving foot restraints into PMA-1 (Primary Mating Adapter) and installing
three bags containing tools for use during later flights.
