* The definitive results for the November 11, 1941 elections are not available. Different accounts are available, though they do not have the same figures.
Dapen Liang, in his book Philippine Parties and Politics, states the results as follows:
Manuel L. Quezon: 1,700,000
Juan Sumulong: 298,000
On the other hand, the December 12, 1941 issue of The Tribune reports that the National Assembly proclaimed the winners of the presidential election based on the following tally:
President - Manuel L. Quezon: 1,285,517
Vice-President - Sergio Osmeña: 1,458,386
The report does not state the votes received by the other candidates. It also says that the tally covers all of the votes, except for one precinct in Palawan that has not yet submitted its official tally. Curiously enough, the November 27, 1941 issue of The Tribune gives the following tally of votes:
For President
Manuel L. Quezon: 1,340,320
Juan Sumulong: 298,608
For Vice President
Sergio Osmeña: 1,445,897
Emilio Javier: 124,035
It appears that Manuel Quezons number of votes have been lessened in the December 12, 1941 (National Assembly tally) report by 54,803 votes.
Vicente Albano Pacis, in his Osmeña: Full-Length Fully-Documented Biography of the Greatest Filipino Since Jose Rizal (Vol. II, p. 125) gives the following tally:
President: Manuel L. Quezon 1,340,638
Vice-President: Sergio Osmeña 1,446,213
For the its completeness, the tally given in the November 27, 1941 issue of The Tribune was used for this document.
