Do I need a mobile phone to use dotMP?
Absolutely not. All dotMP features (except camera phone uploads) are available to you on the Web if you don't have a mobile phone. Your friends and visitors can view your dotMP site on their computers and mobile phones even if you don't have one.
Does dotMP work on ALL mobile phones?
dotMP works on "Internet enabled" or "Web enabled" mobile phones and wireless devices. dotMP will not work if your phone does not have this feature or if you have not enabled this feature.
Does it matter who my wireless provider or mobile phone company is?
Almost never. A few companies (for reasons unknown?) limit customer access to Web site that these companies control. There aren't many companies doing this. Nevertheless, you may want to check with your carrier before you register your dotMP PS.
What does dotMP PS cost?
$49.95 USD per year.
How long does my registration last?
One year from the day of your registration.
How can you offer dotMP at such a low price?
Many companies spend huge amounts of money on advertising so they have to charge you more. You having fun with your dotMP site and sharing it with your friends is the best advertising that we could ever buy. With this in mind, we spend our money and energy improving dotMP and pass on the savings to you.
Can anyone register a dotMP PS?
Only natural persons (no companies, corporations, or organizations) of legal age may sign-up for dotMP PS. Legal age may vary from country to country. Companies, corporations, or organizations must register for dotMP CS.
What if I don't have a credit card?
Online credit card payments are the only option available at this point. Other methods will be available soon.
May I buy more than one .mp domain name and dotMP PS?
Sure. Lots of people have more than one. You may register more than one at the same time or you may come back and register as many times as you want.
What are the rules for .mp domain names? What can I register?
You may create domain names only with characters in the range A to Z, 0 to 9 and only hyphens (as delimiters) are allowed, no other characters including, but not limited to, underscores ("_"), commas (","), ampersands ("&"), equal signs ("=") or periods (".") are allowed. The maximum allowable length of the character string used in the domain name is sixty three (63) characters exclusive of the ".mp". You are only allowed to register second-level domain names such as "yourname.mp". Third or higher level domains, such as "your.name.ai.mp" are not allowed.
How do I put content on my dotMP PS?
You click the "Owner Login" link on your dotMP site and enter your password to get to your Owner Interface. All the features are shown on the Owner interface and step-by-step instructions are provided for inputting, editing, or uploading your content.
Do I need to give up my current Email address to use dotMP PS Email?
No, you can use email forwarding to forward your email from your dotMP address to an existing email account.
What if I need help?
The "Help" link generates an Email to us and our customer service department will respond with answers to your questions.
Can I call for help?
We only provide Email customer support at this point.
Can I use my dotMP PS for my business or other commercial purposes?
Your dotMP PS is for personal use, sharing with friends and fun. Use of dotMP PS for business or other commercial purposes is a violation of the REGISTRATION AND SERVICE AGREEMENT (VERSION PS.1a). Register a dotMP CS if want to use your dotMP for business, promotions, or other commercial purposes.
Is there a publicly available WHOIS look-up for the .mp TLD?
No. Saipan DataCom, Inc. does not make WHOIS data available to the public in consideration of your Privacy Rights. As an alternative, Saipan DataCom, Inc. provides trademark and service mark holders with WHOIS data under the terms and conditions of the WHOIS Data Request Agreement and Complaint Form.
How much storage space do I get for all the photos and other stuff I put on my dotMP site?
One Gigabyte
What are the current Support Content Types? I.E., what can I upload?
You can upload images in GIF, JPEG and PNG format.
Can I upload my own HTML files to your server?
No, not at this point. We are exploring this issue but for now HTML is not a supported content type.
How much storage space do I get for my dotMP Email?
One Gigabyte
Can I host my own Web site?
No. We do that for you and we must do it as part of device detection and in order to deliver Universal Mobile Content (the proper display of content on mobile phones).
Can I use URL forwarding?
No. URL forwarding is available only to dotMP CS registrants.
Can I host my own email servers?
No. We do that for you too.
Can I use email forwarding?
Yes. You may forward all your dotMP Email.
Can you point my .mp domain to another server?
No. Again we must host all DNS and content as part of device detection and in order to deliver Universal Mobile Content.
Can I transfer my .mp domain name and dotMP to someone else?
Yes. You and the person acquiring the .mp domain and the dotMP service must complete a form. Click here for the form and instructions.
How are domain name disputes handled?
Domain disputes are between the registrant of the .mp domain name and the party claiming rights to that .mp domain name. Saipan DataCom, Inc. will not be party to any such disputes. Click here for more information regarding domain name disputes.
