Mitt Mobile Hits 99th County
I officially visited the 99th county in Iowa just in time to make it to the straw poll in Ames this Saturday. I must admit that there's a part of me that is a little sad that the tour is over. I've had a great time on the road in Iowa and have been able to meet some amazing people here. Fortunately, I will continue to spend time here until the caucus, whether it's in November, December or January. No matter when it occurs, it will be the first in the nation and will have an enormous impact on the rest of the nation.
Here's a short video of my grand entrance into the final county in Iowa. Tagg was there to take these pictures and hold the streamers across the road:

M, Are you really James Bond's boss? If so, for sure you'd know best. :) Seriously though, sounds good to me. Pat Buchanan has a great article today about it: http://www.townhall.com/columnists/PatrickJBuchanan/2007/08/14/gop_race_to_toughen_and_tighten

So, with you sticking around Iowa, will the Mitt-Mobile be staying there as well? Or should we be watching for it to turn up in another state (South Carolina) driven by another brother?

Chris: Aw. Mike Huckabee running on Abortion doesn't have a chance. I recommend that the next time this issue come up, Mitt stomp his pro-life view in one last sentence, and then say what will defuse Mike H and all his friends: "Mike I hear that you believe that Abortion is the defining issue of this election. I can only say one more time that I completely agree that we must be Pro-Life. That said, I think the voters realize that we have, for the first time, 5 constructionist judges on the Supreme Court, and that we'll both increase that if we can. The Life Policy is already in the making, as it were. And thank God. But beyond that, I'm thinking that the war, the economy, Washington in general are the things I ALSO want to change. However, if you want to run on a promise that you WILL ABSOLUTELY repeal abortion (somehow, someway, by great plans unknown to us) then I invite you to be the LIFE or Bust candidate." And then just let the silence stretch. He will either have to back down from his "better Abortion" platform, or commit to suicide. As for Fred Thompson, his real advantage right now is that he could be doing homework. Right now, none of the presidential candidates are doing much problem solving. Those I have contact with get information, and it passes through their fingers. It only hits home when they get spanked somewhere public. Which would be funny if it weren't so sad. If Fred Thompson is doing homework and getting the ANSWERS that we are looking for (such as energy solutions that will fulfill our nation's need for oil, gas, nuclear... ) he is dangerous. If he's just sitting out the race now because the dog days of summer don't have much traction anyway, Mitt will out-perform the man who doesn't have the business savvy.

Please, please tell your dad to make rudy pay for adding so greatly to our immigration problem that we have today because he was so interested in ignoring the law and protecting the illegals.

Ok, now that you're done doing the tour through the Iowa counties, how about handing the Mitt Mobile off to one of your other brothers like Craig to take accross the country to the college campuses particularly in Texas, California, Florida, South Carolina, Ohio, and Michigan. Instead of doing the county thing make a goal to visit every major university from now until the Iowa Caucus.

Great job. That was a lot of work!!!! I am so jealous, yet so happy for all the family. PS I think Steve Forbes proved that you can't buy votes in Iowa!

With Mike Huckabee poised to split the evangelical vote with Fred Thompson, I hope that Mitt refocuses his campaign on the economy. He could carve out the largest niche for himself in an area where he has no equal in the Republican and Democratic fields. That's where the big money donors are anyway.
