Słupsk – one of the most beautiful cities in the North of Poland – is situated 18 kilometers away from the Baltic Sea. According to numerous opinions, it belongs to the group of Polish cities which are well-groomed and preserved with great care. History of the city dates back to 8th and 9th century. Since 10th century there had been a Pomeranian stronghold where a settlement of the merchants and craftsmen was developing and where the ships sailing up the Słupia River were harbouring. In 12th and 13th century the city belonged to Sławno Duchy and about 1230 it was united with Pomerania with the capital in Gdańsk. Since 1308 it was ruled by the Brandenburgs. Słupsk was granted city laws and privileges in 1310. History of the city is very rich and tumultuous what is clearly reflected in the city's architecture.

In the center of the city there is the City Hall, a magnificent edifice which is over 100 years old and which stands for a real symbol of Słupsk. The most picturesque monuments belong to the castle complex: there is the Castle of the Pomeranian Dukes – a seat of Museum of Mid-Pomerania, the Castle Mill and Richter’s Granary hosting a very cosy tea shop. The most interesting collection of the Museum of Mid-Pomerania is the collection of paintings by Stanisław Ignacy Witkiewicz - Witkacy. There are over 230 pictures, mainly portraits, which were painted with pastels on paper. Additionally to portraits there are also some oil paintings, drawings, photos, letters and first editions of Witkacy's books.

In the zone of the Old Town, there are many interesting monuments and bourgeois houses situated among parks and green areas. While walking along the Słupia River's banks, it is possible to see other interesting building so called the Witches' Tower from 15th century which was intended as a prison for women accused of witchcraft. In the years 1600 – 1650, eighteen women suspected of black magic were sentenced to death; the last witch put on a trial in 1701 was Trina Papisten who was burnt at the stake. Słupsk has been rewarded many times: for example it has been honoured with European Council’s awards – Flag, Certificate and Plaque – as well as the President of the Republic of Poland’s „Environmentally Friendly Municipality” award for environmental protection. The city offers both to visitors and residents many events which are worth recommending: Confrontations of Feminine Art, International Festival of Organ and Chamber Music, Polish Piano Festival and Komeda Jazz Festival.

The city offers a friendly atmosphere for the investors. The advantage of Słupsk is the fact that there is the Special Economic Zone in here. The entrepreneurs running their business in the Special Economic Zone benefit from public support by being under tax exemption while realizing new investments or creating new working posts. There are 29 enterprises based on Polish or foreign capital in the Słupsk Special Economic Zone. They mostly represent: electronic and electro mechanic industry as well as synthetic materials, food and agricultural products processing industry. The most noted firm in the zone are as they follow: Plast Box, Rubbermaid, Stako, M & S, Bajcar, Plast Team and Łosoś... Słupsk is located in the region attractive for the tourist, it is full of diverse and peculiar merits in terms of landscapes, and there are numerous interesting monuments of cultural heritage and well-developed infrastructure: hotels and hostels, restaurants, bars and cafès.
