The 'Great' Sighting
I just want to start by apologizing to everyone, my fifth blog is long over due. Needless to say, some interesting things have been going on in my life, and work is my main focus.
When you get on set there's not much time to think of other things... let alone hockey games. Although I do find ways around it.
One of the guys I work with, Sid, keeps me updated on scores when I can't pull myself away. You should hear our hockey talks!!! -- especially me right in the middle of a bunch of grown men talking about sports (I might know a little more than some of them too!! LOL)
Oh, I have such a hard time juggling things. When I'm doing one thing, like working, that's all I can think about. Being a professional season ticket holder isn't quite that appealing. As they say, business before pleasure. Which reminds me, I've got a hockey game tonight!! Maybe I'll be a professional fan just one more night and work on my script in the morning!!! LOL
Really though, lets get to the good stuff.
I don't know how many people out there have gotten the chance to see "The Great One", Wayne Gretzky, in person? And up until last weekend I hadn't either. OH! But now, I'm officially in the group.
Let me set the scene for everyone: It was a cold, bitter-cold Toronto night. The Leafs had just lost their strong battle for a victory against the ever-intriguing L.A. Kings.
There I was, not alone mind you -- I had my beautiful sister on the left -- and sadly an obnoxious fan on the right. Who would have thought, losing my hearing in the right ear would hinder me later that night? (did I mention how cold it was? Yes, I did.) As I join the masses and make my way through the arena I'm approached by a number of great sport scenes to talk about in my blogs, and a maybe just maybe, a certain player, but that doesn't slow me down any. I'm on the move.
Then it happened, just like that!! In the hustle and bustle of the arena there I found myself directly across from Wayne Gretzky. What do you do in a moment like that? For one, if you're me, NOTHING. I did nothing, not to mention the fact that fan killed my ear and I couldn't hear a damn thing he was saying. Not that he was saying anything to me! But we made eye contact, then I was gone and so was he. THE END.
If you guys haven't figured it out yet, I'm a goof. Although, I must say it was pretty cool seeing him there at the game. I heard on Sportsnet he was scouting. Talk about pressure for any player, really. Altogether, my trip to Toronto was eventful, exciting and, most of all, really quick. I met some really great people while I was there, as I always do in T.O. I recommend going to THE KEG if you get a chance.
One last thing before I go, Eric Belanger's name is not burger. I was sad to see when he played in Montreal of all places that his French Canadian name was spelt wrong. Don't worry Belanger, I know your name and I noticed. Not to mention you're playing great this year. I don't know what you're doing different -- LOL -- but it seems to be working!!!
Until my next blog, so long and I'll see you at the game!
xoxoxo
