The Department of English and Creative Writing is dedicated to the development of critical, theoretical and literary understanding of texts in a supportive environment, with a strong commitment to pastoral care and individual student support.

Students in the department of English have a wide range of resources at their disposal. In addition to the two libraries on campus and the department’s own collection of videos and slides, the National Library of Wales in Aberystwyth is not far away.
Regular events including films and research seminars by postgraduates, staff and visiting academics are held weekly during term times.
The English department also has a commitment to providing English language support and we encourage international students from any part of the University to contact the English department to discuss their language needs.
