Artist:Charles Bentley - View biography for Charles Bentley

Notes

Bentley has depicted much life and movement in this romantic watercolour. The sky is particularly dramatic, its heightened colour emphasising the calmness of the hill. Action is concentrated on the little fishing boat heading for safety, where the artist has used copious bodycolour and heavy scratching of the paper surface.

Bequeathed by John Palmer Phillips, 1919.
