KIELDER MARATHON
Marion Craig, founder of HBRSG, is running the Kielder marathon on Sunday 9th October 2011 and is using this opportunity to raise funds for the group. RSST (Red Squirrel Survival Trust) have organised a Just Giving fund raising page where you can sponsor her. Money raised will go towards funding a full time trapper who will work with the group in the New Year. As always we are looking for any people interested in helping us. It is very difficult to manage a large amount of traps with just a few volunteers, so if you wish to help protect our reds and can give up some of your time, please get in touch. Grey Squirrels are difficult to catch at this time of year as there is plenty of natural food around. Even so please keep sending us your sightings. Both red and grey juvenile squirrels will be dispersing and looking for new places to live and this is a particularly vulnerable time for our small red population as greys try to muscle in on their territory. So please stay vigilant!
